Each season global trend forecasters WGSN predict the key trends that will dominate the global catwalks. As we head into the all important S/S 17 runway season, WGSN reveal the six key trends predicted to feature on catwalks from New York to Paris. So what should we expect?
Continuing from pre-season, expect oversized silhouettes, strong lines, well-defined generous cuts and workwear -inspired styles. Colour palette will include bright white, sand, tobacco, mustard, black and oxford blue, all in colour blocks. Materials will focus on crisp linen and cotton, sheer knits, canvas, and cotton drill.
Known for its ‘zen-like’ appeal, this trend focuses on maximised minimalism. Structured shapes in loose and lightweight fabrics is key for this look. Select cosmetic, barely there hues in sheer, silk crepe and organza materials. Muted graphics, suede, velvet and iridescent details will add a luxe finish to this new modernistic style.
This look moves further into the increasingly fashionable activewear realm. Drawing inspiration from the Rio Olympic Games, think relaxed styling, sporty layering, architectural shapes with urban appeal. Vibrant colour blocking, graphic edging and metallic leathers will feature heavily within this trend.
@MMissoni launches it’s #FallWinter16 collection. Setting the tone this season is a distinctly #Britishspirit, in both classic #severityelegance and equally typical fun, #freshNquirky modes. All the same, in perfect sync with its bright, upbeat, #contemporaryDNA, #MMissoni shows a clear preference for the latter, finding inspiration in the #beatmood of fifty years back yet also in the #raveparties of #moderntimes. . The big news in footwear this season – true attention-getter – consists of extra long #cuissardboots with round toe and #mediumheel. On the lineup of bags, the winner is a #chunkytrunk style in boxy, #semibombé or cylindrical shapes. Gold is clearly an option as to the color chart.
Innovative layering, unique pieces and eclectic styling will be key to this trend. Taking inspiration from the Middle East, Russia and Japan, this trend will focus on contrasting elements; a juxtaposition of faded brights, whimsical prints, vintage florals and interesting materials including sheer silk, lace, crochet and brocade.
Think nautical meets beach babe. Sunbleached nudes, blushes and florals will be presented in denim, linen, gauze and crochet. Weather-worn hues and safari cuts will add a relaxed style to a previously structured finish.
