Over half of Australia’s online apparel dollars spent locally

According to Roy Morgan Research since 2015, over half of the estimated $2.4billion Australians aged 14 years and over spent on buying apparel online, were spent locally. Over 56% shopped on Australian online stores to buy both men and women’s apparel, totalling $1.3million in online local sales.

This statistic may come as a welcome surprise to Australian retailers struggling to compete with the cheap, next-day delivery services many of the international online retailers offer.

Interestingly, the local retailer’s hugest share of the online spend came from women, with more men still opting to buy more from overseas.
