Born a child of the sixties, owner of Lapis Clothing, Sam Dowlat has an affinity for free flowing style, print and colour. He has taken this simple philosophy and built an immensely successful company around it.

After spending 10 years in the fashion worlds of Florence and Milan, Sam pulled up stakes and headed for the US, with the US market hungry for his Italian fashion flare.

In 1994, Lapis was established as a trendy and well-priced label. Now with over eighty employees, and thirty million dollars in annual sales, Lapis continues to thrive within the fashion industry.

In order to continue adapting their bestselling contemporary adult styles, and expand the children’s line, Lapis ensures that the collections will be as versatile as possible, providing multiple choices for customers, therefore gaining profitability for the retailer.

Lapis is currently stocked and sold in many major and specialty American and Canadian retailers including Macy’s, Dillard’s and Nordstrom’s.
