From Greece with love

ED2E154F811678B266E91313C59FF71CIt all started in Athens, Greece in 1983. At the beginning, Migato imported various afforable footwear styles. Impressive growth quickly followed and the company managed to achieve a network of 1,500 wholesale customers around Greece, from individual shoe shops to department stores and super markets.

Hard work, patience and vision soon transformed Migato into a major brand and led to the opening of the first retail store in 1992. During that time, the collection expanded to offer more fashionable and high quality products across both women’s and men’s shoes.

Consumers responded positively towards this strategic shift and during the next decade a stable and well-studied expansion was achieved within Greek boundaries both at retail and wholesale level.

Here’s a quick chat we had with Con Bletsas of Migato Australia about design inpirations, materials, and special projects before they debut the range at the Australian Shoe Fair.

What’s the best part about working in the footwear industry?

What I love most in the footwear industry is that every day is a new experience since I have to work on different projects and concepts. Fashion is so diverse, interesting and fast moving that it keeps me accelerated and helps me re-generate new ideas each time I have to create a new collection.

What inspires you? How does this influence the design?

Fashion itself is an inspiration! Every season we must be alert with what is the trend and how we present it to customers. Different mix of materials, new forms and styles, new colours all together are combined in order to create every new upcoming collection.

What kind of materials do you source for you product range? Why?

MIGATO’s philosophy aims to foresee all upcoming trends and offers consumers the latest fashion in footwear at competitive prices. We design collections that satisfy every consumer need by offering impressive styles for women, while also providing a complete line of male and children’s collections, as well as accessories.

Different materials,  multicolours and modern styles are all combined to create ready -to-wear shoes for all occasions and consumer tastes, providing the best value for money products to the consumer.
