“I do look at colours and styling but really I build my ranges around what I know I can sell and what mums and kids want, so far it has worked beautifully,” she said. Fashion is a priority but firstly as always with my product it is the fit and quality of the shoes.
“My boots are age appropriate and not full of buckles and studs so lending themselves to all ages groups from age 4 to age 10,” she said.
Re-established in 2009, Red Bootie is an Australian owned and designed brand that offers a range of appealing, well fitting footwear for girls and boys from 14 months to 10 years old. But the point of difference that sets this brand apart from other children’s footwear is its quality. The shoes are leather lined, they have arch supports, firm heel counters and unlike many kids shoes, they are built to support children’s growing feet.
Red Bootie has gained a trusted and respected following among parents and kids as the brand continually strives to stay ahead and offer something unique, fun and comfortable, while reminaing at an affordable price point.
The most popular style is the long winter boots, perfect for the current chilly climate. The outsoles are practical and can be worn everyday for comfort, they are fully leather lined and the leather upper will out last the harsh winter season.
“All my shoes have arch supports, firm heel counters and bend where they should bend and are fully leather lined,” says Cristina. “So for me, getting my everyday shoes, structurally correct is the priority. Then the quality comes into play where I make sure my shoes will outlast the child’s wear.”
Red Bootie only sells to independents which Cristina says `gives the small retailer a point of difference from the major department stores’.
“In this climate a point of difference is what you need to keep customers interested. My range hopefully represents what I believe in a good shoe for a good price, and something both parents and children will enjoy.”
