From the Fashion Exposed magazine: Spring/Summer 2012 trends by Scout

Trend forecasting is definitely quite a skill, and the guys over at Scout definitely have their skills highly tuned to know what will be hot for future seasons and why. They took the time to share with us in the Fashion Exposed magazine which some visitors may have received in the post (or pick one up this weekend at the show).

What women want in Spring/Summer 2012: Origins

At one with the land, with a concern for the environment and respect for tribal values. Softened, travel-worn fabrics combine with strong, earthy colours: ochre yellows and earthy reds, burnt browns and vintage denim blues. Tribal markings and traditional craft techniques from Africa to Polynesia decorate soft, layered shapes, with touches of practical safari style for extended adventures. Drawing on human evolution and our origins from the desert, nomads in Africa and the Middle East, with the colours of the Australian Outback this is a search for authenticity and a deeper meaning.

What men want in Spring/Summer 2012: Simple Life

Get back to basics, with a nostalgic twist. A feeling of freshness and green values; ready for a summer outdoors. Inspired by picnics and days on the farm, freshly washed linens and cotton drills in a palette of vegetable greens and organic neutrals with picnic pastels. Ginghams and checks mix with preppy stripes and classic shapes. Without being self-consciously retro, there’s a strong mood of “the good old days”, when life was simpler, and carefree summers were spent enjoying the great outdoors.

Pretty simple right? Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the Fashion Exposed magazine this weekend!
