Co-located with Fashion Exposed and Australian Shoe Fair, the trade event will see the launch of Spencer & Rutherford’s new spring summer 2011 collection, entitled “The Goddess-Her Ego-and the Love Letter,” as the brand’s sales administration manager Fresca O’Neal confirmed.
“We also hope to achieve further recognition through the Australian and international Fashion world through our presence at the fair,” she added.
In this its fifth year showing at Bags & Accessories Fair and Fashion Exposed, the Spencer & Rutherford business had proven immune to the current economic climate.
“Growth and awareness of our brands has been exceptional over the past 12 months, and the current winter collection was very well received.”
Launched in Melbourne in 1999, Spencer & Rutherford is the result of a happy accident. The first ever Spencer & Rutherford creation came about when co-founder and creative director Kim Michaelides designed a bag from scratch for a photo shoot organised by the design agency she then co-owned with her husband Chris.
From such beginnings, the brand’s rise to fame was swift; it quickly secured accounts at Henri Bendel (New York) and Lane Crawford (Hong Kong) and now boasts a strong presence in its home country, as well as a thriving overseas penetration across New Zealand, France, Germany, the UK, Scandinavia, the US and Canada.
