Men’s footwear brand Croft is set for growth following the appointment of Matt Thomson to the newly created position of national sales manager. Thomson’s background includes a stint at Pacific Brands as brand manager for CAT Footwear.
The new recruit confirmed his immediate objectives were to nurture Croft’s existing customer base to provide more opportunities for the growth of the brand, as well as expanding Croft’s reach beyond the traditional footwear stores and into boutique fashion retail environments. He will also assist with range development through research of European trends and current Australian consumer purchasing patterns.
“All of the above priorities fit into the overall growth strategy of the brand. They allow a focus on product development without reducing the attention on the sales that drive the business,” he said.
Thomson had been following the progress of Croft director Paul La Rosa – also ex Pacific Brands – for some time, he added.
Founded by La Rosa in 2005, the Croft brand is stocked in over 100 stores nationally including David Jones. Croft shoes are made from quality components, including nappa leather uppers and linings, and designed to fill a market gap for an affordable alternative to mainstream shoes, La Rosa said.
“Australian men are becoming bolder in their fashion style and are looking for something different. I intend to create great shoes that bridge the gap between high fashion, high priced elitist brands and mainstream footwear by offering fashionable styling at moderate prices.”
