Founded in 2007 by business partners Sharyn Vanderveeken and Shelley Morrish, online business Shoe Bling specialises in clip-on shoe accessories.
The company hoped to attract a retail partner through its presence at the fair, confirmed co-founder Shelley Morrish.
“We find our most frequently asked question is ‘Where can we buy apart from online?’ We would love for an established company to put Shoe Bling in their shop or department store, as our product would be a great add-on. Shoe Bling is such a tactile, visual product, people want to touch and see the quality and colours in our designs.”
The Shoe Bling collection comprised 50 designs across three to four colours. Average prices ranged were $20 to $80, with a limited Swarovski design priced $144.95.
Top sellers were the Jewel Encrusted Bow at $79.95; the Rhodium plated crystal clip with rhinestone trim at $34.95 and the Black Resin Flower at $29.95.
“Probably the favourite is a striking black and white leather flower priced $54.95. We often refer to this as our ‘Chanel’ clip as it is a very classy design,” Morrish said.
Shoe Bling was trading well despite tough market conditions, she added.
“Our sales are consistent and we’ve found that the downturn has not affected us. Our product is one that works well in a financial crisis. It carries a third of the cost of buying a new pair of shoes and still gives women that buzz of having a new pair. We all have a comfortable pair of black heels and this is a great way to disguise them with a third of the cost of buying a new pair.”
Australian Shoe Fair will take place at from August 30 to September 1 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
